About Us
In 2005, Beth and Andy Burgoon founded Burgoon Furniture Company in Beth’s hometown of Bradford, Pennsylvania located in the Allegheny Plateau, home to some of the highest quality hardwoods in the world.
From the moment Andy discovered wood-working over twenty years ago, he’s loved building as a way to challenge himself with a creative outlet that is not only fulfilling, but exciting with the ongoing expansion of his craft . His products fit comfortably into any surrounding while bringing a positive energy and warmth to a room with their wholesome beauty.
Andy is self-taught and has twenty years of experience in woodworking. He is indebted to the furniture makers of yesterday for their inspiring designs but is excited by today's furniture makers and their continuing improvements to the trade. Mostly he is nourished by the positive response of his customers. Their appreciation of his art gives him reason to continue to do the work he excels at and loves.
Each piece of furniture from Burgoon Furniture Company is made to order and completely handmade of solid hardwood. Our process starts with the careful selection of primarily wide boards to give Andy flexibility to control the grain type and symmetry. Each board is unique, like a fingerprint, in grain and color making each of our products truly one of a kind.
Our pieces are constructed using traditional joinery throughout the case, making the furniture durable for more than a lifetime. On the drawers, we use crescent-and-pin joinery for a nineteenth century feel and flair.
The classic designs of our furniture never go out of style and fit any décor. Our appliqués are hand carved to add an elegant touch and we use only solid brass handles and hardware. Each piece is finished using a ten-step process which ensures richness and depth of colors.
Our Butcher Blocks and Cutting Boards follow the same logic of design. Like Norman Rockwell would paint one canvas at a time, our Burgoon Boards are pieces of art deserving full attention during their creation. This is what makes our company different and why you end up with an artistictly inspired piece unlike any other.
